The Hubble space telescope (named after astronomer Edwin Hubble) was launched into space in 1990. Within weeks of launch it was found that significant issues with it's mirror existed, and early pictures taken by the telescope were of relatively poor quality. However these problems were soon fixed and since then the photographs taken by the telescope have been nothing short of astonishing. Here is a sample of 20 of the most fantastic images produced by Hubble.
